Greene County Historian Jonathan Palmer to present - Gamble in the Mountains: The Story of the Canajoharie and Catskill Railway
On Sunday August 17, the Bronck Museum is pleased to welcome Greene County Historian Jonathan Palmer to present the program "Gamble in the Mountains: The story of the Canajoharie and Catskill Railway."
Join Jonathan Palmer for a recounting of the curious saga of the first railroad in the Catskills and the rise of a competing vision for the economic future of the Mountains. The Canajoharie and Catskill Railway, organized in 1830, offers a fascinating window into the economic, social, and political upheavals and changes that dominated the evolution of the Hudson Valley in the age of Jackson. Attendees are encouraged to bring questions for this approximately hour-long program.
The program will begin at 2pm and be held on the grounds of the Bronck Museum. The Bronck Museum is located at 90 County Route 42, Coxsackie, NY. Suggested donation for this program is $10.
